Anyway to start off the series I’m opening up with one of my favourite mixes of the recent year and a bit of me learning to DJ. Its made by an infamous duo commonly known as DJ Psy and McMash. Now if you have listened to any of my sets in the recent couple of months/weeks its an almost definite I have played at least one of their mashups cause they are just an absolute dream. My current favourites being ‘Your CD's dead’, the glorious tune ‘Mileys Macarana’ and not to forget the song that Matt Hancock vibes too himself 'Stairway to WAP'.
This mix is a collection of 3 hours of unfortunate Mashups hosted by Lost In Music. Its balanced beautifully between huge throw backs and mixed underground house and disco beats. With such a consistent beat its one of the cleanest mashup mixes I have laid my ears upon. The use of singalongs spread throughout maintains engagement and frankly where ever you play it, it just works. From gym life all the way to afters the mix just absolutely flies.
My personal favourite starting time is 1:47 for an absolute party vibe. From here on in it takes the vibe all the way to Hot stuff over DJ got us falling in love- Usher up another level to soldier boy over Venga Boys. It slaps too hard. My favourite memories of this mix being played is the many car journeys I have forced my passengers to listen to the beautiful selection. The amount of pure vibes this mix creates is sensual.
When I heard this was going to be played at an event I was so excited. The griff is a place where I love to go and lost in Music is one of my favourite vibes around Loughborough especially when these two clowns grace the stage with their presence doing mashups or not.
One beautiful Saturday me and a group of friends took the trip for a day I had been looking forward to for weeks. Me and Jesso were possibly the most excited we have ever been. The warm up was clean and simple keep the vibes flowing just as quickly as the jugs of Fosters. We controlled ourselves as we knew this wasn’t the day to forget everything.
As the hours moved through the time came and honestl for 2 hours we were nearly as bamboozled as a dog in a cat show on a Tuesday questioning how and why the Macarena worked alongside Miley. One of the few times I have left an event in absolute awe scaring me as a DJ into next week.
So as much as I absolutely rave about this mix I do honestly believe its an absolute piece of Art. it hits such an open tone. The use of R&B is something I've always respected it as an area of DJing and an education. Mashups are something that can easily be butchered and have been many a time. If you want to have some fun searching on youtube my god that can be a fun afternoon session. But anyway this mix is perfect for everything and please do enjoy it cause I certainly have over the past couple of months.
